About
Run Wild, Inc.
Run Wild, Inc. is a New York State not-for-profit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to raise funds for land conservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley and beyond, by organizing running races and through other fundraising activities.
Our Races
Through our races and other fundraising activities, we've contributed to land acquisitions and to organizations whose missions support conservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley. What we've contributed so far is only a start. We believe the running community cares deeply about our natural environment, and our mission is to tap this enthusiasm and connect runners to the conservation and stewardship movement in the Hudson Valley, and eventually other areas.

The 'Gunks are unlike any other place on earth! For this 25K and 10 miler you'll climb and descend gorgeous mountain singletracks through pitch pines, huckleberry bushes, and mountain laurels while traversing the ivory conglomerate cliffs and glacially-polished ledges of the Shawangunk Ridge. Your hard work will be rewarded with breathtaking sweeping views of the Catskills, a sky lake, and the iconic 187 ft Verkeerder Kill Falls!

Manitou’s Revenge is a 53 mile point to point trail ultramarathon through the Catskills beginning in Windham, N.Y. on the northern Black Dome Trail and then mostly following the Long Path from Acra Point all the way to downtown Phoenicia, N.Y. THIS IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER ULTRA YOU’VE RUN BEFORE! While some of the course is runnable, much of it requires hiking or even rock scrambling. The payoff for all of this hard work is the spectacular views and knowing you have tackled one of the most challenging 50+ miler courses in the continental US not at altitude.

Fahnestock truly offers “a little bit of everything” with its varied landscape which includes hemlock gorges, bald ridge hilltops, second-growth hardwood forest, mountain laurel thickets, and numerous lakes, ponds and streams. For the trail runner, it is a veritable smorgasbord of terrain with numerous runnable doubletrack trails, winding single tracks, technical ascents and descents, and farm trails. The trails challenge while the scenery delights.

The SRT is a unique trail running event in the magical Shawangunk Mountains, "one of Earth's last great places," noted for the distinctive pitch pine barrens, sparkling white cliffs, skylakes, waterfalls, and 100-mile+ views across the Hudson Valley. The race offers three point-to-point options which traverse the ridge crest: 1/2 marathon, 30-miler, and the epic 70-mile division. Adventurous minimalist format rewards the self-reliant and prepared (carry your own food, and we give you a free map app to follow your way along the course). Very high completion rates for the 1/2 and 30-mile division, but the 70-miler is one of the region's toughest challenges.

The Cat’s Tail Marathon is an approximately 26 mile point to point trail race in the Slide Mountain Wilderness Area of the Catskills, hilly, rugged and technical. The course summits four Catskills High Peaks – Panther, Slide, Cornell, and Wittenberg Mountains, as well as Giant Ledge, Cross Mtn, Mount Pleasant, and Romer Mtn, with almost 7000 ft of gain. The descents are even more challenging than the climbs!

This challenging and beautiful course begins and ends at the Rockwood Hall portion of the park overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades. This is just off Rte 9 in Sleepy Hollow, next to Phelps Hospital. Both the half marathon and marathon are single loop courses almost entirely on wide groomed carriage roads, and the marathon visits just about all of the signature aspects of the Park Preserve with a ton of scenic views. The course CLIMBS A LOT, rocking and rolling past fields, stone walls and bridges, grazing livestock, rivers, forests and lakes.
